“You ever feel the prickly things on
the back of your neck? And the tiny
hairs on your arm, you know when they
stand up? That’s them,” whispers Haley
Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense.
Whether it’s a ghost haunting your
listing or just a feeling clients get when
they walk in, the team at Energy Shifter
says there are ways to help. Energy
Shifter is just one of the many organizations
offering their supernatural services
to Realtors® with properties that
are not selling.
“People spend lots of money staging
houses, and that’s fi ne, but a house
that doesn’t feel good won’t sell,” said
Sharon Sinclair, founder of Energy
Shifter and author of “Shift the Energy
– Change Your Life.”
Although ghosts are the number one
reason Energy Shifter is called in to
residential houses, the team said that
space clearing has been picking up
among real estate agents because of the
economy.
“There are so many sad reasons that
people are leaving their homes – foreclosure,
bankruptcy, divorce, etc.,”
Sinclair said. “It’s a very diffi cult thing
to let go when you’re being forced out
and that negative energy stays in the
house.”
Signs of bad energy can be as subtle
as an uncomfortable feeling people get
when they walk in a room, to literally
following in the footsteps of the owners
before (whether it be fi nancial hardship,
divorce or illness).

Both Sinclair and fellow team member
Lisa Heacock have noticed an
increasing curiosity in supernatural
services driven by the receptiveness
of younger generations and by mainstream
exposure. Sinclair noted in a recent
episode of “Selling New York” on
HGTV, they called an energy cleanser
to help with a diffi cult property.
“With real estate agents, it’s really
the younger generation that is seeking
us out and looking for new ways to sell
property that isn’t selling,” Heacock
said.
Although the process is always different
depending on what the team
detects in the house, Sinclair and Heacock
are adamant anyone has the ability
to improve the energy or clear it of
an unwanted presence. “To feel energy
and hear spirits, you really just have to
listen,” Sinclair explained.
“To be honest, if you do buy a run
down place and you remodel it, it shifts
the energy.” Sinclair added, “You’re
putting that love and care into the
house. So people, in a way, do space
clearing on their own.”
The overall hope of the team at Energy
Shifter is with the rise and focus
on green energy, green buildings and
green spaces, people will recognize
they need to look at all the layers of a
property, not just the surface. As their
motto says, “When you change the energy
in a place, you change the person
who lives there.”
